Since January, the P.H.A.R.E. project has entered a tangible and visible phase of transformation. The work underway in Building 1 and the future carpentry workshop clearly reflects one ambition: to modernize production tools, improve working conditions, and prepare the shipyard for the future.
The carpentry workshop takes shape
The first developments of this future key area are already well underway:
• A new concrete slab has been poured to support heavy equipment,
• A partition with cladding has been installed to structure the space,
• The technical networks essential for operating woodworking machines have begun to be installed.
To ensure a high-performance and safe working environment, the shipyard has also completed:
• Installation of the sprinkler system,
• Setup of the dust extraction system, essential for air quality and team safety.
Structural work in Building 1
Other major operations have marked this first half of the year:
• Construction of a firebreak and collapse-prevention wall,
• Installation of a new sectional door, making it easier to maneuver and move hulls,
• Extension of the mezzanine, which will accommodate future workstations for boat assembly.
Each stage contributes to strengthening the project’s coherence and enhancing the quality of the infrastructure.
What’s next?
The momentum continues with the next phases: the deconstruction of Building 2, followed by the construction of a new structure dedicated to composite manufacturing.
The P.H.A.R.E. project continues to chart its course, true to the ambition that drives it: sustainably preparing the future of AMEL Shipyards.
The next chapter will look back at the history of the AMEL shipyard, its iconic locations, and its evolution over the decades.
Stay tuned!
