Chantiers AMEL is making significant progress on the PHARE project, an ambitious transformation program designed to modernize the company’s facilities in Périgny. Launched on July 10, 2023, this initiative reflects AMEL’s dedication to reimagining its historic site while preserving the brand’s core values and spirit, striking a perfect balance between innovation and respect for its heritage.
Extension and Transformation of Building 1
Building 1 was the first to undergo a major transformation, with the addition of nearly 600 square meters of new space. This expansion took shape progressively, beginning with the assembly of the structure and followed by the installation of the roof. In December, the interior slab was poured, allowing molds to be relocated to this new area. Since then, the extension has served as a temporary workspace for molding the hulls of the AMEL 50 and 60.
Large sectional doors were later installed along the entire west facade of Building 1, in preparation for the future boat assembly area they will serve. A key objective of the PHARE project is to optimize production workflows and logistics, making the manufacturing process more efficient overall.
Transformation of Building 4 and Creation of a New Reception Hall
Building 4 has undergone significant renovations. The original ground floor layout, once used as a sail preparation room when the shipyard was first established, has been gradually reconfigured to accommodate the growing staff of various support services. Partitions have been added to define dedicated spaces for the customer service and purchasing departments.
The entrance hall now boasts an elegant reception desk, and a vestibule with automatic doors has replaced the old swinging doors. Final touches are currently being added, including new lighting and a prominent display of Mr. Amel’s portrait, whose enduring legacy continues to inspire and watch over the premises.
Reconfiguration of the Production Area and Preparation for the Future Carpentry Workshop
In Building 1, the small parts lamination area has been relocated to facilitate floor reinforcement and the construction of two pits. These upgrades will soon accommodate all the machinery for the carpentry workshop, as well as the varnish booths.
Additionally, the mezzanine in Building 1 will be extended to finalize the development of the boat assembly area and optimize the space in preparation for the planned transfer of logistics operations into this building.
Constantly Evolving Progress
The PHARE project, a large-scale transformation initiative, remains on schedule to meet its planned deadlines. Each day, the teams work methodically to ensure every phase progresses smoothly, all while maintaining the production of 20 AMEL yachts per year. Through the PHARE project, AMEL reaffirms its commitment to the well-being of its teams and the optimization of its production processes.
