2019 was a great year for autumn boat shows in Europe and the United States. A lot of visitors discovered AMEL’s new models on show in France, Italy, Spain and the United States.
In Cannes, where this year’s sailing & motor boat areas showed off a new layout, public attendance was remarkable. The Shipyard exhibited its two models, the AMEL 50 and, as a world first, the AMEL 60.
The public and press roll-out was followed by a cocktail party in celebration of the latest addition to the AMEL family. Another AMEL 60 was showcased the following week at the Grand Pavois in La Rochelle, the birthplace of AMEL yachts.
The Genoa Show generated a lot of enthusiasm and was probably the best edition in the last 10 years. The Italian public showed up in large numbers and were particularly receptive to AMEL’s new design and the new direction it represents for the brand. The AMEL 60 on show was viewed every day without interruption, from opening to closing time.
The Barcelona boat show was an important event this year because it was here that the AMEL 60, selected for the European Yacht of the Year Award, was tested by international journalists. The results will be announced to the public at Boot in Düsseldorf in January 2020.
In the United States, an AMEL 50 was exhibited for the first time at the boatshows in Newport and Annapolis. Attendance was particularly high this year on that side of the Atlantic, and the reception given to the AMEL brand was very positive. The AMEL 50 took part in sea trials after the Annapolis show and won the « Best Boat Award » in the monohull/cruising category awarded by SAIL magazine.
The success of the new AMEL models, the 50 and 60, both sloop-rigged, has exceeded expectations. While the future owners of these yachts hail from different countries and walks of life, they all share the desire to sail and live on beautiful, safe and easy to use sailboats. This is exactly what motivates AMEL’s teams to work ever harder and to innovate with style.
