Our Heritage, Our Values - Sail into the future with AMEL!

Welcome to AMEL Shipyard, where heritage and innovation converge to create unparalleled sailing experiences! For over 60 years, our name has been synonymous with quality, safety, and comfort at sea, reflecting the visionary spirit of our founder, Henri Amel.

THE PIONEERING SPIRIT OF AMEL

Henri Amel, a devoted sailor and visionary boatbuilder, left his mark on the nautical industry with his pioneering ideas: the early adoption of polyester construction, the development of electric in-mast furling systems from the 1980s onwards, the introduction of the retractable bow thruster, and the design of iconic yachts with a central cockpit and a rigid guardrail encircling the deck.

He was also a forerunner in personnel management, introducing innovative work practices long before they became mainstream: a 37-hour week, then a 35-hour week, profit-sharing, and a pension scheme as far back as 1981. These initiatives reflect his deep respect for his workforce and his ambition to combine performance with wellbeing. This same pioneering spirit continues to guide AMEL Shipyard today. We create yachts that are safe, comfortable, and easy to handle, incorporating innovations in design and ergonomics, whilst minimising our environmental impact. Our PHARE project, a major transformation of our longstanding production site, symbolises this commitment, modernising our infrastructure to meet environmental challenges whilst providing our employees with an optimal working environment.

At AMEL, each yacht is conceived to be much more than just a boat! It’s a reliable travelling companion, designed to offer a serene sailing experience, upholding the heritage of the savoir-faire transmitted through the generations.

Exceptional savoir-faire in every detail

Laminators, woodworkers, varnishers, electricians, plumbers, mechanics, riggers, fitters, upholsterers… more than 30 trades work together in the designing and building of our yachts. In a continuous quest for a flawless result, utmost attention is given to the selection of materials as well as to our choice of service providers and equipment manufacturers, recognised for their quality, with priority given to French expertise.

A STRONG CLIENT FOCUS

Buying a yacht is no ordinary purchase… it’s what dreams are made of, it’s a lifestyle choice. For the teams at AMEL Shipyard, the creation of each boat is a unique project. A close relationship is established between the Shipyard and the client right from the outset; this enables us to finetune the future yacht according to the client’s sailing projects.

Facilitating administrative procedures, accompanying future owners right up to the moment they take possession of their yacht, and providing them with technical support during their travels are all part of our commitment to a strong client focus.

INNOVATION & EXCELLENCE

At AMEL, innovation is at the very heart of our approach. Our yachts incorporate cutting-edge technology, such as electric furling systems and retractable bow and stern thrusters, ensuring optimum manoeuvrability and safety. Designed for both amateur and experienced sailors, our models combine simplicity, comfort, and performance. The protected central cockpit houses all the controls for seamless navigation, and interior fittings are designed to provide a functional yet attractive space.

Ever mindful of our commitment to the environment, we prioritise the use of sustainable materials and optimise energy systems to reduce the ecological footprint of our yachts, whilst maintaining the high-quality standards expected of AMEL.

SUSTAINABILITY & RESPONSIBILITY

Ever committed to sustainability, we foster environmentally friendly practices aimed at minimising our ecological impact whilst optimising the performance and longevity of our yachts. Built to last, AMEL yachts withstand the test of time, preserving their value and uniqueness.

To enhance the autonomy of our models, we have developed innovative solutions, such as the installation of solar panels for sustainable energy production and improved grey water storage capacity, reducing the environmental impact of sailing for prolonged periods.

However, our commitment goes beyond the design of our boats. As a member of the French association for eco-responsible yachting APER (Association pour la Plaisance Eco-Responsable), we are indirectly involved in the recycling and management of vessels at the end of their life.

In addition, our collaboration with the BIOTOP eco-network supports the protection and nurturing of biodiversity on our long-established site in Périgny.

Furthermore, we are proud to support talented young sailors, such as Manon Pianazza and the Radier brothers, Louis and Arthur, by contributing to their sporting ambitions. This commitment reflects our desire to promote sustainable and responsible yachting, whilst championing the values of performance, passion, and respect for the environment.

A COMMUNITY OF ENTHUSIASTS

AMEL is more than just a shipyard… it’s an international community of those with a passion for the sea!

We foster the relationship with AMEL yacht owners not only by providing excellent customer service and invaluable assistance during their voyages, but also by organising regular gatherings at AMEL Cup events, whether in the Mediterranean, the West Indies or La Rochelle.

Communication and collaboration are an essential part of our AMEL family, and it’s also an opportunity to ensure continuous improvement.
